A new ground up, stand-alone Volkswagen dealership for The LaFontaine Automotive group is under construction in Dearborn, Michigan. This dealership is one of a few projects to aim for LEED certification.
LEED, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is a construction program that provides third party verification for greener and healthier building design. LEED Certification is based on a rating scale that gives credits for green design in categories including: sustainable sites, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, materials and resources, and indoor environmental quality. Points can even be awarded for having a LEED Accredited Professional, LEED AP, on staff. Among the seven employees at US Architects, two hold the LEED AP status.
The new dealership, built by Bloom General Contracting, Inc., is a 16,000 SF, one story structural steel building with ACM white frame construction on the exterior and interior with all interior finishes and furniture per Volkswagen’s Facility Image Program.
