Located off of State Road 32 in Yorktown, Indiana, is the new home of Dr. Roger Smith’s Animal Medical Center. Having previously attended a three-day veterinary clinic design seminar, members of the US Architects team were ready to meet the challenge when Dr. Smith approached us about designing an improved and larger facility for his growing business. Dr. Smith wanted the building to reflect his interest in the Rocky Mountains region, with large wood trusses and rugged stone on the exterior. Inside, the facility is spacious, allowing animals and their owners enough space to check in at the counter. The exam rooms are designed with lowered exam tables, keeping the size and stature of the animals in mind. Lastly, the surgery space has state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment equipment in both the prep room and the surgery room to aid Dr. Smith and his staff in healing cats and dogs.
